406 MHz Distress Beacon Registration - EPIRBS - Emergency
Beacons
The attached registration form is a standard form supplied by Maritime NZ and AMSA for registration of all Australasian 406MHz Beacons. My company policy is that we will not send any new 406MHz Beacon out when ordered by phone or Internet until the Registration form has been completed and sent to us. This then allows us to complete the form by adding to the form your unique 406MHz beacon characteristics. We will then forward the completed registration to RCCNZ (or the appropriate Country of registration) along with a test compliance certificate that will include all of the unique encoding information. This will then allow RCCNZ, in the event of any alert, your unique beacon to be identified. The reason for this policy is that many existing 406MHz beacons are unregistered, (one in eight), which means that in the event of an alert, neither RCCNZ nor AMSA will be able to identify who is in distress. That, in itself, defeats the purpose of 406MHz. All personal information collected will be confidential and will not be used other than for the purpose collected. Accordingly, if you are using this form when ordering a new 406MHz Beacon please ensure that you save a copy of the completed registration form then forward a copy to info@gme.net.nz Or fax to 09.3099211 PS- If you are selling your
existing 406MHz beacon you have a responsibility to advise of
the change of ownership. If it is required to have a change
of country registration then the beacon will need to be reprogrammed.
Not all beacons can be reprogrammed to another country so please
do check. |
